The Foster Nursing Assistance Stool is ideal for use with the Possum Breastfeeding Chair, although it is also very successful in other departments.
The Foster stool allows midwives to get in close to the breastfeeding mother when she is seated in a chair or lying in a bed. The stool allows for closer access than what would be possible with an ordinary chair.
The stool has the advantage of adjustable height, which means that assisting nurses can be seated - eliminating the need for bending over from a standing position, or kneeling on the floor. This is particularly beneficial when full assistance with a breastfeed is required, and for assisting post-caesarian mothers as they breastfeed in bed. The adjustable height can go from a desk seating height to a bench height, and other options are available.
The gas lift on the Foster stool is activated by a continuous ring under the seat of the chair, which makes it quicker and easier to adjust the height of the chair, as opposed to single lever gas lift activation.
The castors on the standard Foster automatically lock when a person sits on the chair, although if this is not the preference, there are other options available.
